[origin: GB2275823A] A thermally-responsive switch, designed to go open circuit in response to relatively low overload currents of the order of 2 amps and below, comprises a moulded plastics body 1 capturing therein first and second wire terminals 2, 3 and having an internal chamber 4 wherein a snap-acting bimetal blade 6 of very low thickness is spot-welded to one of the wire terminals 2 and carries a silver contact 12 which cooperates in switching operations with the other wire terminal 3. The moulded plastics body 1 is formed of a polymeric PTC material and acts as a heater in parallel with the bimetallic switch. <IMAGE>
