Abstract (en)
The electrode array is used in the mercury-chloralkali cell, and is connected to rod or bar main conductors via current distributors. All conductors are generally flat sections laid vertically on edge and welded together, with clearance between them. The active electrodes (1,2) are large in number compared with the current distributors; their mutual clearance is at least 2 mm, and their lower edges, seen in section, have a downward-pointing wedge-shaped profile. <IMAGE>

Eine Elektrode für Quecksilber-Chloralkali-Elektrolysezellen weist auf ihrer dem Elektrodenspalt zugewandten Seite eine Vielzahl von aktivierten Elektrodenteilen (1,2) aus hochkantstehenden Flachprofilen auf, die an ihrer Unterkante (3,4) im Querschnitt gesehen keilförmig, bzw. prismatisch ausgebildet sind; durch die Ausgestaltung der Unterkante soll ein rascher Abzug von elektrolytisch gebildeten Gasblasen aus dem Elektrodenspalt gefördert und eine möglichst gasblasenfreie Grenzfläche zwischen Anode und Elektrolyt im Bereich des Elektrodenspalts zwecks hoher Energieausnutzung erzielt werden. <IMAGE>
