Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0685599A1] The transporter consists of a truck (1) carrying at least two bridge members (2, 3, 4) set one above the other and designed to be assembled end-to-end once in place. The truck has a support and launching beam (43) and a system for moving the bridge members over the front of the vehicle cantilever-fashion before lowering to the ground. A hook (93) engages with a supporting axle on the bridge members, and a tipping support plate (45) lowers the bridge members to the ground after they have been assembled and extended. The bridge members are moved relative to the truck by endless drive chains (64) on either side of the support beam (43), with the lower part of each chain passing between three toothed wheels (66) in a triangular configuration on the support plate. <IMAGE>
