[origin: EP0685982A2] The loudspeaker (10), for providing tone signals, has a metal loudspeaker membrane (12), attached to a loudspeaker basket (11) via a metal foil rim (15). The connections between the surface of the loudspeaker basket and the rim and between the rim and the loudspeaker membrane are provided by ultrasonic welding. Pref. the metal rim is made of a Cu-Be alloy and it pref. has at least one corrugation formed in its surface, for accommodating heat expansion movement of the loudspeaker membrane relative to the loudspeaker basket. <IMAGE>
