[origin: EP0686728A1] The points switch comprises two tongues (11,12), coupled for simultaneous change over of the points. The tongues pivot at the ends of second rails (3,4), and are connected alternately via their free ends to the end of the first rail (2). Coupling is by a spring component (14) of variable length, and which exerts a predetermined force. The force can be such that the component acts as a rigid one under the forces occurring during changeover. It can act on the tongues near their pivot points (12,13), and typically between the latter and their free ends (11a,12a), containing a compression spring. <IMAGE>
