[origin: DE4420008C1] A brake device (5) prevents an automatic movement of the window pane (1) with the adjustment drive (4a,4b) at rest. The brake device is arranged on the driver (3) and incorporates at least one brake pivotable around a bearing bolt (6). The brake with the adjustment drive at rest brakes against at least one side surface (a) of the guide rail (2), and with the adjustment drive running frees the guide rail (2). The brake is formed as a clamp unit (7) arranged off-centre on the bearing bolt (6) with two curve arcs extending spirally towards opposite sides from its middle point. It is tensioned in the clamp direction (y) by a spring (8).
