[origin: EP0687503A1] The shredder has shredding teeth (17) on the drum (16) which work with a mating tool, tilting on a spindle (18) parallel to the drum axis. These teeth are at the gaps between the drum teeth. A drive mechanism rotates the drum. The tool working with the drum is comb-shaped, with teeth (19) curved and unable to turn on the pivot spindle (18). These protrude towards the drum so as to form a tapering rolling gap. Adjusting motors (35) act on the spindle near its ends, pre-loading it against a stop (40), and holding the teeth in a predetermined working position in relation to the drum. The comb teeth can contain recesses at the side towards the drum teeth, accommodating toothed inserts of highly wear-resistant material. <IMAGE>
