[origin: WO9419936A1] A bait holding device (20) for use with fishhooks made so as the comprise a wire shaped with an eye portion (26) at one end, an intermediate shank portion and a hook portion terminating in a point, the bait holding device (20) comprising a length of wire (10) having a diameter significantly less than that of the fishhook (22), the wire further having a bend forming a loop (12) near the midpoint and U-shaped terminal bends (18) at the two ends of said wire (10), and a ferrule member for surrounding the wire (10) between the loop (12) and the terminal bends (18) for attaching the bait holding device (20) to said fishhook (22); the bait holding device (20) can be provided in combination with the fishhook (22) or as an attachment to existing hooks.
