Abstract (en)
A printhead for an inkjet printer includes a substrate (201) with a film resistor area (209) and an electrically insulating layer (213) deposited on one surface of the substrate (201). A cavitation barrier and electrical interconnect layer (203) composed of palladium is selectively deposited on the electrically insulating layer (213) over the resistor (205) for cavitation protection and on a portion of the electrically insulating layer (213) for coupling between the resistor (205) and other electrical components. The single layer of palladium (303) reduces the number of steps required in the manufacture of such an inkjet printhead. <IMAGE>
