[origin: EP0688904A1] The caisson has a panel (1) made of a composite material which is divided into ballast compartments (17) by an internal framework. This is surrounded by a frame (2) which encloses the bottom (1) and sides (12) of the panel (1). The frame acts as ballast at the lower edge of the panel and forms a rigid support at the entrance of the dry dock. The frame is the same size as the panel where they join.
