[origin: EP0689785A1] The covering material consists of foam padding (5) protected by a composite layer made from an outer layer (2) of a knitted, woven or nonwoven fabric, a cut-resistant layer (4) of woven metal filaments, and a thin connecting layer of a supple synthetic material. The connecting layer is made from two sheets of polyethylene (3a,3b) which are located on either side of the metal filament layer and joined together through it by local fusion produced by heat applied to one face. One of the polyethylene sheets (3a) is joined in the same way to the outer covering layer, while the other one (3b) is connected to the foam padding. The foam padding is connected in turn to a supporting panel (6) of a rigid and non-deformable material. <IMAGE>
