[origin: EP0690194A1] The safety mechanism consists of two roller units (5,6) which are fixed to the door panels (1,2), and each having two drums (5a,5b; 6a,6b) situated one above the other and having different diameters. The drums are equipped with spring-loaded cables (7,8) which are fitted so that they roll or unroll in opposite directions. Each spring (7a,8a) is located between two sections of cable and has non-contacting coils. At least one of the two roller units has a shock absorber (9) to provide a brake on its rotation, especially when the door panels are closing. At least one of the door panels is linked to a stop system (5c,10) to limit the angle through which each of the doors can be opened. <IMAGE>
