[origin: EP0690659A2] The cooking vessel (1) placed on a glass ceramic hotplate (2) has a spot (4) on its outside from which an infrared signal is radiated to a sensor in position (9) on a wall (10). The sensor is wired to an electronic component (11) connected to a power relay (12). This arrangement permits convenient and relatively precise determn. of the temp. of the wall of the cooking vessel.
