[origin: EP0691144A1] The ski consists of an upper skin (2), a sole (3) and an inner filling material (6). The sole is made by injection or extrusion from a thermo-plastic material which contracts slightly on cooling, e.g. high-density polyethylene, and its inner surface has a series of lengthwise T-section ribs (7) to engage with the filling material. The height and spacing of the ribs (7) are greater than the equivalent dimensions for metal reinforcing rods (5) embedded in the filling material. The ski sole can be made from a polyethylene with a high molecular weight, or from a mixture containing a majority of polyethylenes with high and ultra-high molecular weights. The sole's outer surface is slightly corrugated in a transverse direction. <IMAGE>
