[origin: EP0691429A2] A rail heats a synthetic yarn which runs in contact with it. Here, along the rail, are placed equally-spaced yarn guides through which the yarn is led in a zigzag run with constant amplitude, U, which follows and crosses a straight mid-line of the heat rail surface. Also claimed is a process for false twist texturing of a synthetic multi-filament yarn entailing feeding the yarn into the false twist zone and then by means of a feed device drawing it over and in contact with a lengthwise heating rail, over a similar cooling rail and out the false twist zone. Here the yarn, in zigzag fashion, is led in contact with at least a part of the heating rail length. <IMAGE>
