[origin: WO9422817A1] A process for the preparation of arylsulphurpentafluorides and heteroarylsulphurpentafluorides comprises reacting an aryldisulphide or heteroaryldisulphide with silver difluoride under anhydrous conditions at a temperature of at least 100 DEG C and in the presence of a non-aqueous solvent whose boiling point is at or above the reaction temperature, said solvent being substantially stable under the reaction conditions.
