[origin: EP0693270A2] The base weave edge (9,8) is also fitted on top (12) with pile threads (13) which run at right angles to the edge and are joined by a lengthways seam (14) so the threads project beyond the margin (15) of the edge (8). The threads are joined by seam (12) to the base weave (9) also and are joined up into a strip which is secured to the top (12) of the edge either by stitching or bonding. If bonded, the adhesive is activated by heat or hardening agent or a two-component adhesive is used in HF-hardened form. Otherwise adhesive film can be applied to the weave edge (8) before the strip is fitted, possibly stitched into place, after which the film is activated by applied heat. Low-melting fibres can be used in the base weave which are heated in strip placement or even approach. <IMAGE>
