Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0693449A2] The suction roller provides a controlled braking effect on the sheets (15) dragged through the printer. The roller has a base structure (6) linked to the suction ducts (4,5) and has a removable cover (9). The cover has a pattern of suction slots and a controlled surface area to match the print quality and the paper quality being used. The flexible covers are secured by clip fasteners. For narrow contact areas with the paper a tapering contour cover is used. The base suction roller also has side slots to ensure an even suction flow. Several suction rollers are spaced across the sheet feed. <IMAGE>
