Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0693579A1] An aq. ammoniacal bath for the electrolytic deposition of Pd/Ag alloys contains (A) 5-50 g/l Pd as a Pd-ammine complex, (B) 2-40 g/l Ag as an Ag cpd., (C) 30-150 g/l conductive salt, (D) 5-100 g/l aliphatic polyamine(s) with 2-10 amino gps. and (E) 2-50 g/l mercaptoalkane carboxylic and/or sulphonic acid and/or salts thereof, adjusted to pH 7.0-10.0 with NH4OH. Pref. bath consists of water contg. 5-20 g/l (A), 2-30 g/l (B), 50-1090 g/l (C), 5-100 g/l (D) and 2-20 g/l (E). Complex (A) is Pd-diammine dichloride, dibromide or dinitrite, and cpd. (B) is AgCl, AgNO3, Ag2SO4 or an Ag-diammine complex. Polyamine (D) is a 2-6C alkylenediamine, pref. ethylene- and/or hexamethylene-diamine, or a polyethylene-amine of formula H2N-(CH2CH2NH)n-H (n = 2-5), pref. diethylene-triamine, triethylene-tetramine and/or pentaethylene-hexamine, or a mixt. of ethylenediamine and triethylenetetramine. Component (C) consists of carboxylic acids and/or salts thereof, and/or ammonium salts of inorganic acids. Component (E) is 2- or 3-mercaptopropionic acid or 3-mercaptopropane- sulphonic acid.
