[origin: EP0693661A1] The water heater is assembled from a number of cast modules. It has a central burner chamber (2) and smaller exhaust gas ducts (3) to spread the heating effect to the water ducts (1). The heater is assembled with the burner chamber horizontal. The heated water rises to a manifold at the top where some of the heated water is mixed with cool return water in special mixing zones (10) formed by guide ribs (11) in the casting. The modules are assembled via top (4) and bottom (14) clamping holes. The shaped guide ribs deflect some of the rising heated water to mix with the cool return flow. The cast ribs can be replaced by a metal insert tube with holes designed to inject cool water into the modules. <IMAGE>
