[origin: EP0694646A1] The iron has a heated sole plate (11) with steam outlets (12) and a steam chamber (14) linked to a water reservoir (17). It incorporates a pump (20) which extracts a portion of water from the reservoir and delivers it through a selector either to the steam chamber or to a cold water atomiser. The selector comprises a deformable membrane (56) with two valves (58, 59) linked to two apertures - an injection aperture (44) feeding the steam chamber (14), and an atomising aperture (49) feeding the atomiser - and operated by two separate buttons (62, 63). The membrane occupies a working position when either of the buttons is operated, in which one of the valves is kept closed and the other is opened. <IMAGE>
