[origin: EP0694955A1] The lamp module has a lamp envelope (2) and an electronic bias or control circuit (33,34) for the lamp embedded in a common transparent, insulating plastics block, which secures the circuit components in defined positions relative to one another, to the lamp envelope and to the current supply leads (37a). Pref. the control circuit contains a capacitor (33), a resistor (34) and a diode, with the resistor and diode connected in series with the current supply lead, the capacitor connected in parallel across the lamp. The transparent, insulating, plastics block may also contain an embedded reflector for the lamp. <IMAGE>
