[origin: EP0695108A2] The earpiece housing (1) contg. the speaker in conjunction with a microphone (5) and an externally accessible vol. control (2) is joined by a flexible tube (4) to the casing (6) in which the audio amplifier (9) and battery (10) are enclosed. Attachments to both ends of the tube are made with shaped pieces (5) which can be glued-in or left loose for dismantling. The material of the tube allows of bending in any direction into a stable shape. A multistrand wire spray-coated with plastic may be used. The microphone is shielded from wind for open-air use. <IMAGE>
