[origin: EP0695861A1] The IC engine comprises two fresh air pipes (17,18) which branches from the outlet channel (22,25) or from the exhaust gas pipe (12,15) close to the outlet channel of the occasionally unfired cylinder (2,5). The fresh air pipe opens into the outlet channel (23,24) or into the exhaust gas pipe (13,14) close to the outlet channel of one of the fired cylinders (3,4). The fresh air pipe opens in or near the outlet channel of the cylinder which comes after the unfired cylinder in the ignition firing sequence for the engine.
