Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0695969A1] A method for processing a silver halide color photographic material is disclosed, which comprises processing an imagewise exposed silver halide color photographic material with a processing solution having bleaching ability after color development, wherein said processing solution having bleaching ability contains at least one ferric complex salt of the compound represented by the following formula (I) or (II) and persulfate: <CHEM> wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 each represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, a carboxyl group, a phosphono group, a hydroxy group or a sulfo group, provided that at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 represents a carboxyl group, a phosphono group, an aliphatic group substituted with a sulfo group or a carboxyl group, an aryl group substituted with a sulfo group or a carboxyl group or a heterocyclic group substituted with a sulfo group or a carboxyl group; L1 and L2 each represents a divalent aliphatic group, a divalent aromatic group or a divalent linking group containing these groups; and M1 and M2 each represents a hydrogen atom or a cation; <CHEM> wherein L3 and L4 each represents a divalent aliphatic group, a divalent aromatic group or a divalent group containing these groups; and M3 and M4 each represents a hydrogen atom or a cation. The method is excellent in biodegradability and bleaching ability.
