[origin: EP0696668A1] The device is for the erection of a sheathing for the underside of the step body of a building stairs, in partic. a stairway running around at least one corner. It has a lower construction and a sheathing covering (15) forming the sheath surface on the erected lower surface and mats (39) comprising mat members which cross each other mesh fashion and are unrigidly connected with one another. The mats have a rectangular formation and wave-form running wires as mat members. The mats can also have strip-form material strips as members of the type that they form an essentially closed surface.
