[origin: DE19504937A1] The use of a rubber mixt. (I) for the prodn. of an elastic spacer (3), esp. for use between rails (2) and sleepers (6) on high-speed track, is claimed. Mixt. (I) is based on natural rubber (NR), epoxidised NR, isoprene (IR), butadiene (BR), acrylate, styrene-butadiene (SBR) rubber or blends thereof, pref. NR/SBR or NR/BR blends, and normal additives such as fillers, plasticisers, antioxidants, etc..The bottom (5) of the insert (3), which is in contact with (6), is provided with groove(s) (8, 10, 11, 15, 17) to form an edge (9, 13) round the insert, and the upper surface (4) in contact with the bottom of the rail is flat and level.
