A self-checking combustion monitor/regulator unit (8) for a heating installation (1) using either solid or liquid fuel, receives a signal from a single sensor (7) which continuously determines the concentrations of oxygen and hydrogen/carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases. The control unit (8) regulates the fuel and air intakes via the respective actuators (4, 5) in accordance with the measured characteristics of the flue gases (6). Predetermined data is used to define acceptable limits of combustion performance and the air supply is increased or reduced to ensure that operation is at all times within these constraints.

Die fehlersichere Überwachung und Regelung einer Feuerungsanlage (1) erfolgt mit einem Sensor (7), der den Anteil an Sauerstoff sowie an Wasserstoff und/oder Kohlenstoff im Abgas gleichzeitig erfassen kann. Das Signal (U) des Sensors (7) wird von einer Regelungs- und Überwachungseinheit (8) redundant auswertet. Die Regelungs- und Überwachungseinheit (8) verarbeitet neben dem stationären Signal (U) des Sensor (7) die Position (S) des Stellgliedes (5) für die Luftzufuhr. Ferner erfaßt sie den zeitlichen Verlauf sowie die differentielle Änderung der Sensorsignale (U) in Abhängigkeit von der Position des Stellgliedes (5). <IMAGE>
