[origin: EP0697751A1] The connection socket has a pair of socket sleeves (3,4) receiving respective branch line connector plugs, each having a metallic contact sleeve (7) cooperating with a contact element (6) for electrically contacting a cable wire (6). The socket sleeves are axially aligned with their insertion openings (9,10) facing in opposite directions, with a U-shaped clamp strap (12) having opposing clamp arms (13), projecting in the direction of the cable plane, for securing the abutting socket parts (14,15) together.
