Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9524541A1] A fall-prevention device for up-and-over doors and the like, such as roller doors, sectional doors, roller grills, roller shutters and the like, has support cables (11) which act in the lower region of the door in the vicinity of the door guide rails (13) for rollers (14) secured on the door. The door guide rails are preferably curved in the upper door-opening area. The device comprises at least one spring-loaded lever (20) on which one of the support cables (11) acts in a direction (R) counteracting the spring force (F), and which comprises a clamping element (21) for securing the door and for clamping engagement with the door guide rail (13) or with an element which is parallel thereto in such a way that, when the support cable (11) becomes slack or breaks, the lever (20) is pivoted under the spring force (F) with its clamping element (21) into the engagement position. The operational reliability is improved in that the pivot axis (X) of the lever (20) is parallel to the plane opened up by the door, preferably within the door leaf (10), and in that the lever (20) is pivotable in a pivot plane extending approximately perpendicular to the plane opened up by the door and is arranged in the opposite direction to the direction of fall (Z) of the rollers (14) on the door guide rail (13).
