Abstract (en)
The mechanism has interconnected seat and backrest supports 11, 50 which pivot in synchronised fashion about pins on a fixed support 2 and are biased to a default tilt position. The tilt lock 30 has members 36, 37 with positively engaging ridges or teeth shaped such that the tilt bias force tends to push the members tighter together once they are engaged whereby accidental release of the lock actuator 61 does not release the lock. Release is achieved by urging the pivoted chair parts against the bias force to slide the teeth apart. As described the teeth are angled in ratchet fashion and the members 36, 37 are sliding flat plates operated via a spring loaded bolt 31 and released by handle 62. <IMAGE>
