[origin: EP0698573A1] The feed device (100) is for transporting plate-shaped objects (102) one behind the other. It consists of a transporting device (103) and a braking device (108) after it. This has a transporting surface (111) and a holding device (112) to hold the plates on its surface. The speed of the transporting surface of the braking device, when one of the plates is being transferred, is the same as the speed of the transporting device. A braking device delay occurs when the rear edge (117) of the plate has left the transporting device. After this, acceleration to normal transporting speed takes place.
