[origin: EP0698866A1] The test arrangement for checking documents in handling equipment, especially for checking metallic security threads in banknotes, uses a transmitter and receiver sensor and a device to move the document/banknote past the evaluation unit. a number of transmitting and receiving antennae (B1, A1, A2) are embedded within insulating material on a flat or curved surface (1) at ground potential. The separation between transmit and receive antennae is not greater than half the length of the security thread (6) of the smallest object under test, but larger than the shortest visible length of the security thread. High frequency signals are transmitted and detected by the system to test the security thread.
