[origin: WO9520332A1] A cushioning member (10) for an article of footwear is provided having a series of interconnected chambers (26 and 42) filled with ambient or slightly pressurized air. Impedance means (74) is provided between selected chambers, in order to restrict the flow of air between the chambers (26 and 42). The shape and structure of the impedance means (74) determines the nature of the air flow between chambers (26 and 42), such that the cushioning member (10) can be tailored for various types of activities and body weights, by offering varying degrees of cushioning.
