[origin: EP0699607A1] The device is for laying a material strip (S) and comprises a travel frame (1) supporting a material roll (14) and movable forwards and backwards over a laying surface between two end positions. An issue roller (23) on the travel frame is rotatably arranged and so drivable that its peripheral speed and therefore the issue speed of the material strip is equal to the travel speed of the travel frame. The material strip is fed from the roll to the issue roller via a drive roller (10) which is also rotatably fitted on the travel frame. It is drivable with a peripheral speed which is somewhat greater than the peripheral speed of the issue roller and the travel speed of the travel frame. A dancer bar arrangement is provided between the drive roller and the issue roller.
