Abstract (en)
[origin: US5609766A] PCT No. PCT/DE94/00487 Sec. 371 Date Apr. 17, 1996 Sec. 102(e) Date Apr. 17, 1996 PCT Filed May 3, 1994 PCT Pub. No. WO94/26671 PCT Pub. Date Nov. 24, 1994In a water treatment process using ozone, to prevent bromate formation a quantity of bromide-containing water for treatment is first set to a pH value of less than 6.5 by feeding in CO2, unless the water already contains the requisite CO2 by origin. CO2 and ozone are then simultaneously fed in for a period of several minutes. The feed stream of CO2 is designed to maintain the pH value, and sufficient ozone is fed to the quantity of water to produce oxidation and sterilization.
