[origin: EP0700840A1] The lifter incorporates a toggle lever (26). One lever end is fastened to the lifting frame (7) via a pivot joint (28), the other end is fastened to a clamp jaw (22) via another pivot joint (30). One end of a piston-cylinder drive (32) engages on a toggle joint (31) of the lever, which is located between the pivot joints. The toggle lever is angled when the clamp jaw is in open position, and is extended, when the jaw is in closed position. The piston-cylinder drive may have a power accumulator, which acts in the direction of the extended toggle lever position. The spring can consist of a pre-tensioned helical pressure spring (43).
