[origin: EP0700863A1] The lifting unit (1) has one or more beams (2) fixed to it which have horizontally movable supporting members (3) on their ends, each with a standing plate. These are manually adjustable between stops in the lengthwise and transverse directions. The supporting members are torsionally rigid and slide on the beam ends so they cannot tip. They can be turned for a limited amount. Each member can have a chamber below its plate accommodating the beam end. The chamber height may be greater than the beam thickness and wider than the beam by the amount necessary for the transverse movement.
