Abstract (en)
An amphoteric size (I) in the form of an aq. dispersion is obtd. by polycondensation of a copolymer half-ester-salt (II) with a polyamine and/or polyamidoamine (III) in aq. medium. The half-ester-salt is obtd. by radical polymerisation of maleic anhydride (MA) with an 8-22C (pref. 12-18C) alpha -olefin in organic solvent, pref. o-oxylene, followed by reaction with an alkanol, pref. methanol and/or ethanol, to give a copolymer half-ester (precursor 1) and reaction with alkali hydroxide to give the ester-salt (precursor 2).

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue amphotere Leimungsmittel, die in Form ihrer wässrigen Dispersion eingesetzt werden. Sie sind erhältlich durch Polykondensation eines Copolymer-Halbestersalzes mit einem Polyamin und/oder Polyamidoamin im wässrigen Medium. Das Copolymer Halbestersalz wird durch radikalische Polymerisation von Maleinsäureanhydrid mit einem 8-22 Kohlenstoffe enthaltenden alpha-Olefin hergestellt. Das neue amphotere Leimungsmittel ist für die Leimung von Papiererzeugnissen im weitem pH Bereich einsetzbar.
