Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0701882A2] The device for holding and centering a workpiece consists of one set of clamps (1,2) which move towards each other under the action of a pressure source (35). The pressure forces piston arms (7a,7b) outwards towards the workpiece and at the same time forces the opposite clamp face (2) toward the workpiece via a rotating lever mechanism (16,17). The levers translate a movement in arms (11,12) into an opposite movement direction in rod (26) which is connected to clamp (2). A second set of clamps (28) work in a similar manner but in a perpendicular plan to the first set. Both sets are connected in parallel to the pressure source.
