[origin: WO9429027A1] An impact crusher has a disk-shaped rotor rotatably mounted on a vertical axis and a housing that surrounds this rotor with a wall (2) that forms an impact surface. This wall is designed as a truncated cone and, together with the outer side (12) of an insert (11) enclosed within said wall, forms an annular gap (14) through which the material to be crushed passes on a zig-zag course, without significant collisions between portions of the material to be crushed.
