[origin: EP0703046A2] The guillotine has a frame (10) suitable for setting on a table, a fixed supporting plate for the sheets to be cut, a moving section which is set across the plate, and a cutter (14) which has one end pivoted to the moving section so it can move vertically and interact with a counter-cutter. Both the cutter and counter-cutter have curved ends which allow a strip to be cut with its ends still joined. The cutter is operated by a rotary motor and a lever mechanism which moves it between its upper and lower positions, with the motor connected to the lever through a reduction gear mechanism and key joint. The guillotine also has a pressure bar to hold the paper sheets against the plate while they are being cut, equipped with guide rods (22) and springs (23) to return the bar to its original position.
