Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0703092A1] The sleeve (1) is formed from a thin rectangular plate bent into a cylindrical shape and joined along the adjacent edges. It can be of aluminium, and for use in offset printing it can be chemically roughened including the joint seam (2), anodised and provided with a sealing photo-sensitive coating. Alternatively, it can be provided with a water-guiding coating. For rotogravure printing it can be provided with an engraved copper coating. For use with a transfer block, the surface can be provided with a continuous laminar rubber coating. It can also be used as a direct support for a flexible block used in flexographic printing.
