Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0704364A1] A damping damper and a damping system for effectively suppressing, using a damping damper of a semiactive control, a transverse deflection generated in a vehicle body of a railway vehicle while controlling the damping damper adjusting to the state of the transverse deflection of the vehicle body. A unidirectional flow stroke sensing cylinder (6) interposed between a truck (1) and a vehicle body (2), a damping force control circuit (8), and unload valves (18, 19) for pressure side and extension side constitute damping dampers (3, 4). A detector (5) for detecting the transverse deflection is installed on the vehicle body (2). The deflecting direction of the vehicle body (2) is determined by a computer (40) using vehicle speed signals (U1, U2) from the detector (5), and the unload valves (18, 19) for pressure side and extension side are selectively switched and controlled reversely corresponding to extension and compression operations of the damping dampers (3, 4). Further, the generated damping force of the damping force control circuit (8) is controlled by the computer (40) using damper displacement signals (W1, W2) from the stroke sensing cylinder (6) and damper speed signals (V1, V2) calculated therefrom as well as the vehicle speed signals (U1, U2) from the detector (5) to effectively control the transverse deflection of the vehicle body (2). <IMAGE>
