Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0704770A2] The printing plate has at least a first layer (1) of a ferroelectric material which acts as a photoconductor when illuminated by a light beam of given frequency before and/or during the polarisation, due to the photoferroelectric effect. Pref. the ferroelectric layer is illuminated with an electromagnetic beam with a frequency below the material specific boundary frequency, so that the temp. in the ferroelectric layer is raised, with transparent electrodes (2, 3) on opposite sides of the layer for simultaneous application of an electrical field with a field strength below the coercivity field strength of the layer in its non-illuminated condition.
