The novel busbar (1) is prepared from round rod (7) which is considerably cheaper and whose end regions are cold-shaped on both sides to form parallel surfaces. Cross connections (10) suitable for these busbars have at least two U-shaped clamping tongues (20, 21) which, at their free ends, have circular recesses (23, 24) adapted to the diameter of the round rod.
