[origin: EP0706011A2] A handheld remote control programmer (51) employing IR signal transmission or similar operates in conjunction with the front panel (53) local controls (52) of a multi-function food processor (50) and can over-ride/reprogramme any previously established resident control routine. The remote programmer (51) incorporates a matrix of pushbuttons and function keys (56) together with a display screen (55) for programme verification. The independently stored data in the programmer (51) enables the selection or change by relatively unskilled staff of complex food processing routines and these are supplemented by fault diagnosis and equipment cleansing programmes for out of service operation.
