Abstract (en)
In the prepn. of substd. benzoic acids (I) of formula (A; Z = C(O)-OH) by reacting aromatic hydrocarbons (II) of formula (A; Z = H) with CO2 in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalysts and hydrolysing the resultant complexes to (I), carboxylation is carried out at pressures up to 10 bar and temps. of -20 to +40 degrees C: R1-5 = H, 1-20 C alkyl, halogen or 5-8 C cycloalkyl and at least 2 of R1-5 = alkyl and/or cycloalkyl. Also claimed is a method of preparing substd. benzoyl halides (III) of formula (A; Z = C(O)-X; X = halogen) by preparing (I) as above; opt. converting (I) to an alkali salt; and reaction with a halogenating agent.

Beansprucht wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von mehrfach alkylierten aromatischen Carbonsäuren der Formel I <IMAGE> worin R1, R2, R3, R4 und R5 unabhängig voneinander Wasserstoff, C1-C20-Alkyl, Halogen oder C5-C8-Cycloalkyl bedeuten, mit der Massgabe, dass mindestens zwei der Reste R1, R2, R3, R4 oder R5 Alkyl und/oder Cycloalkyl bedeuten, durch Umsetzung von entsprechenden aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen mit Kohlendioxid, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Reaktion unter Einhaltung spezieller Temperatur- und Druckverhältnisse durchgeführt wird. Weiterhin ist ein Eintopfverfahren zur Herstellung der entsprechenden Carbonsäurehalogenide beschrieben.
