[origin: WO9501855A1] A machine for cutting a flexible material by means of a cutting wheel (37) rotated by a motor, said wheel and said motor being supported on a cutting head (18) moving horizontally along two orthogonal axes and revolving about a vertical tangential control axis. The machine further includes a bearing plate covered with a mat engaged by the cutting wheel (37), a member (24) for setting the cutting depth of the wheel in the mat, and a member for setting the horizontal spacing between the vertical tangential control axis and the rotational axis of the wheel (37) so that said cutting wheel engages the mat at a forward contact point close to said tangential control axis.
