[origin: EP0708248A2] The compressor has a 2-part housing (1,2) containing a rotary paddle wheel (4) having a number of paddle blades (6) attached to a carrier ring (5), fitted to a driven hub (7). The compression space between the paddle wheel and the housing is sealed in the vicinity of the carrier ring by radial sealing rings (8), on either side of the latter. The sealing rings are each held by a respective retaining ring (10), secured to a bearing surface provided by one or other part of the compressor housing. Pref. the retaining rings are secured by screws, each sealing ring having a notch for locating the end face of the carrier ring.
